If you can think forward, by learning from the past and can keep trust on the same pedestal as profit.
If you can admire foundations as much as what's built upon them.
If you see the bigger picture by examining every detail.
Then you understand what it takes to work for Anglo American.

Nikki, Bill and Jedda Hobbs

Name:
Nikki, Bill and Jedda Hobbs

Like father, like daughters

At Anglo American, we are always striving to create positive, sustainable relationships – both with the people who work for us – and the communities in which we operate.

We believe in good mining – not quick mining. Because respectful, long-term relationships are the most rewarding.

Take Bill Hobbs, an excavation officer, and his two daughters Jedda and Nikki, all of whom work at Drayton mine in New South Wales, Australia. This family has 15 years of Anglo American experience between them, and are a living example of the kind of robust communities our mines are creating around the world.

In the town of Moranbah in Queensland, with the creation of 2,000 new jobs over the next five years, we know we have an increasing responsibility to partner with our neighbours and to contribute positively to the local area.

Our $20million Moranbah 2020 Fund will provide funding for training facilities, education programmes, cultural facilities, accommodation and public buildings that will support the sustainable development of the town.

For employees, we offer choice according to personal circumstances. Those who choose to live in the community are offered a cash incentive towards permanent housing within the Moranbah community.

It’s just another example of how we’re going above and beyond to make a difference in Moranbah – and all of Australia.

We do this because we want our mines to support the next generation, and because the communities that we operate in become part of our family.
